Cool... another pisces Japanese guy.... I thought I was alone in that catagory..
Anyways, I pay no attention to any anti-Japanese sentiment on this forum, or in any other form of media. I think what drives alot of it simply fear. Not hate. I think that people have always feared a economically powerfull Japan, and they especially fear a militarily powerfull Japan. Who can blame them? Much of the crimes, and atrocities commited by Imperial Japan are still within living memory, with reminders of those crimes all over the asias.
Historically speaking, it always takes about 3-4 generations before any real, meaningfull healing happens between cultures after a major war. It took nearly a century before Russia finally got over losing (baldy) the Russo-Japanese war in 1904-05 where the entire Russian Baltic fleet was sunk in 2 days by a crazy-dedicated and hardcore Japanese combined fleet. In fact the Imperial Japanese battleship Mikasa, which was Admiral Togo's flagship during those two days still exists today as a war museum. And the Russians SHAT themselves when Japan announced her restoration to her 1905 battle configuration in the mid 1960s.
And no one talks about Japan's initial invasion, and occupation on the Koreas during that war, or the earlier Sino-Japanese war with China in 1894 where the Japanese military were just as guilty of atrocities as later on. However, these two conflicts are long out of living memory, and people (even historians) don't talk about it that much.
For the last 150 years, the Japanese have proven themselves experts at scaring the crap out of the entire world. What other culture can reinvent its entire society from feudalism into a modern military superpower in 30 years, where the leaders of the western world pooped thier shorts after Japan crushed the Russians at the Battle of Tsushima Straights, then reinvent itself once more in another 30 years into an economic superpower where now, Japanese companies such as Toyota are set to become the worlds largest?
