We look with our eyes to see where we are going, we look at people when we converse, we look at beautiful people. So why shouldn't one take care how he is presented to the world and the people around him? "Dress like everyday is important" is the one sentence I quote out of a pretty famous book. Dressing like the day is important allows you to feel like you are going somewhere important, with it, a sense of purpose. You actually FEEL good about yourself, your confidence goes up etc.
Sorry perhaps I got a little off topic. As for what outfit looks good. It really depends on your personality, and your body type. Face it, not everyone is a 180+ runway model. Dress to fit your body.
suit jackets with defined cuts looks great on anyone. single breasted, not too big.
Jeans, loads of different styles, dark to light washes, details! go for the ones with nice details as they make your jeans stand out from the rest( oh and trust me, the girls can and will notice them)
pants, depends on what kinda shirt you are wearing..
shirts, again, lots and lots of styles, but go for the ones with a cut.
t-shirt, whatever that says about your personality.
Shoes. IMO, every guy should have at least 3 pairs of nice dress shoes. Rotate them, wearing the same pair of shoes is 1. going to ruin the shoes faster. 2. Girls will notice that you dress nice.. but always wear the same pair of shoes. and.. sneakers, personal taste I suppose.

i know this guy who is an engineer type, and i had a conversation with him regarding fashion. i said, hey dude, why don't you dress differently, you know? like you work out, why dont' you wear clothes that accentuates your chest or shoulders?
you know what he said? "man, i don't wanna look like one of those dicks at the clubs with thier shirts half-opened"
my response: "well those dicks at the clubs leave with the hottest girls at the clubs"
"it's just not me"
what's HIM? i mean really, we're talking about getting women here, not changing the very nature of who we are.
