I dunno, there's a lot of contradicting articles out there about this story. Something may have been lost in the translation, particularly since money is money and Olympics is all about international money. One common assumption is that low-level cops are warning bar owners to clamp down on drug-dealing, which they attribute to the darker skinned folks that live in the area that sell to locals and tourists. So it may be more about ethnic profiling than anything.

China's far from a perfect place, but they're making progress at their own pace. It seems all the news leading up to the Olympics have been looking for any opportunity for sensationalism.
