I have been to the US for 5 years and found the taste of the women in Asia (to be more specific, Taiwan) about guys' clothes and underwear is more liberal than that of the women in the US. When I was in Taiwan, I could wear any color or type of underwear and my Taiwanese girlfriends wouldn't have any problems. I could have a lot of clothes, shoes, and take care of my appearance. In my impression, European girls don't have problems with this either.

However, after I started dating American girls, I have been told that American girls prefer simple style and are not comfortable with guys caring about their appearance so mcuh, not to mention underwear. My ex-girlfriend even called me metrosexual. In my impression, American girls seem only used to see guys wearing loose boxers with monotonous colors.
