I don't see the big deal about marriage either... though I'm always happy for my friends when they reach that point in their lives
But then, I'm not a Christian who was raised with the thought that pre-marital sex is unclean and evil. Oza, I think for a lot of girls there is pressure from the family to "do the right thing". Settle down, get married, raise a family and give grandchildren. Like there is nothing more to life than that. My grandma TRIED to raise me that way but I refused. I happen to disagree, life has a lot more to offer than a ring and a piece of paper telling the world I'm some one's property. Though who doesn't want to wear a pretty dress and throw a huge party with with everyone you know there to celebrate the fact that you are in love? Hahhaah
And yes, I agree with Sara that it's a commitment issue too, but in my opinion you can have a commitment without legal binding. A lot of the times those mean more as well because you stay together out of love at that point, not because it would be too much of a hassel to end things in divorce court. I'm not in a hurry to get married, this is not the time in my life for it. I need to get the life that I have now more settled before I change it drastically.
However... I'm finally ready for a relationship again. Don't get me wrong, casual dating is fun, but it would be nice to not have to second guess things. To be comfortable with someone and have a certain level of stability and intimacy. To get laid when I want to without having to worry about what the guy will think of me if we go there too soon. Oh... have I mentioned the fact that I over-think most things if it's worthy of contemplation?
