No way, that's what you may be sensitive to, but not what the article stated. The article went out of its way reporting how safe major Chinese cities are, how attacks are rare, how punishment is harsh, and even profiled the attacker a bit to point that he was probably not in a right state of mind (recently divorced, hasn't seen relatives in 2 months). If the media really wanted to cast a negative light on China right now, the stories of the pro-Tibet demonstrators in Tiananmen Square and various sports events could have been highlighted, but that would have been an obvious attempt at trying to cast China in a negative light.
This is really sad for everyone. If anything, I hope it brings up talk about mental health in China -- physical and mental disabilities could use some more tending to.
