I just saw the movie. The subject basis of the different immortal Gods reminded me of my childhood when I would stay up late and watch the old Chinese king fu movies with bad dubbing. I'm glad they included the old chinese folklore of such characters as the Monkey King and kung fu techniques as the Drunken Master, Tiger and Praying Mantis... and both Jet Li and Jackie Chan were really good.
And as far as Asian Americans breaking into Hollywood. Well, the topic has been talked about numerous times on this forum. I don't really think just because you have an asian accent, you can make it big. That idea doesn't make any sense. Obviously, it depends on your acting ability and a certain look that is appealing to any audience. There are plenty of American born asian actors without accents who are doing well in American cinema... but we still have a long way to go before we could ever crown an Asian actor on the level as Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie... but we're a perseverant bunch...we'll get there someday....
