A Global Western-focused Asian Think Tank?

http://www.seymourinstitute.org is a Global Black Think Tank which has been quietly thinking of and implementing ways to combat the "degradation" of its own community caused by the rap/hip hop culture of today.

Is there an Asian-American Think Tank that can also think deeply about how to improve the Asian-American (and even Asian-Canadian, Asian-British, Asian-Australian) condition through media change?

I know there are media activist groups. But can a true think tank come up with revolutionary ways to do what must be done and that has not been done by media activist groups?

I wouldn't mind to join or volunteer to such groups and contribute, but the challenge is to gather enough like-minded asians that are aware about issues surrounding the media and its representation of asians, and feels strongly enough to go out there to make a difference.

I think universities are a hotbed of intelligent, opinionated, open-minded asians. That's a good place to start. What people can do is arrange meetings and spread phamplets around the campus about asian-media awareness. They would meet on a regular basis to discuss issues, various ways on how to go about making a difference and then towards action to implement those ideas, as well as to socialise with each other.

And yes I believe that a true think tank can most definitely turn things around for the better

American blacks (relatively speaking) have a unifying culture and especially language. Calling Asians diverse is a vast understatement. I'd guess most have better relations/impressions of non-Asians than their Asian geographic neighbors. China and India compete in many areas. Japan's past crimes against its neighbors are deeply remembered by all. The way I see it, inter-Asian relations are too damaged to have a common rallying cause.

My ramblings are probably overshadowed, however, by the simple population stat of blacks (15%?) and asians (4-6%?).

And Asians haven't mixed as much as blacks so it's still too easy to tell the individual groups apart.

Thumbs up Well Said Dupre

In Australia there's a growing amount of mixing and interrical but more on recognisation, representation and media influence which need to promote postive imagine about Asian and their heritage or culture.

The key is education and awarness that influence certian individual and the media views.
