I have a friend who met her SO in March, moved in with him in June, married him in August and had his child the next April.
My mom got married 8 months after meeting my father.
I had a co-worker who married the love of her life after 20 years of living together and having three kids (it was actually the youngest kid who said "mom, I think it would really rock if you and dad got married". How cute is that!
A lot of people live together but never get married.

I wouldn't trust you to run a bath, let alone a fucking restaurant!!Gordon Ramsay, Kitchen Nightmares
my cousin has been dating this guy for 12yrs but she can't make the final decision. Her mother is distressed that she won't live long enough to see grand children.
Thak and I never actually dated. We were friends/soldiers of the same unit for two years, and then we kinda got together, and were engaged within the week. We announced our engagement 3 months later much to the dismay of civilians who don't understand, and were married when we'd been together 9 months. We've been married two years, and are happier than ever. I think staying with someone for years and years without taking things to the next level is pretty over-rated... if you believe in marriage, that is.
How long do you date the opposite sex before getting married? What is the right time to broach the question? 5yrs, 10yrs or 15yrs?
one year to two is as long as I will date someone before getting married

ya i agree one year but not more then 2. 1 year just to go through entire year cycle of events to get the full picture. if you're stretching pass two years then it becomes not a matter of getting to know the person well enough to consider marriage but a bit commitment phobic imo. thats speaking in light of if both persons already are finished with the main educational goals and have started a job, and basically has the ability already to live and take care of themselves.

She is giving heat to her friend who is marrying after dating someone for a year. Although that's too short for me, who am I to judge? All I would do is give some suggestions, support them (if I wished to do so), and then hope for the best.
Shania Twain is still married to her hubby. They were married within 6 months of meeting and have been together since the 1993.
