Question Any NZ members? And a question for all my Aussie neighbours

Two things, it seems like there are only a few people from New Zealand on this site I'm hoping to be surprised and find out there are a lot more... so if you are from NZ post a reply and say what city your from.

Second topic, I've been thinking of flocking to Aussie for some time now, it makes sense for me as NZ / AUS citizens can travel freely between the two anytime not to mention AUS is geographically so close.
Career-wise there are a lot of opportunities for me but the social side is just as important...
What I want to know is what city/town are you from and what do you like about it? If you moved there why?

Whereabouts in NZ are you? I know that it’s known to be a nice place, very clean and pristine, but not particularly good for career-orientated young people. I remember reading somewhere that around 35,000 people leave the country every year and the government is concerned about the impact of this outflow of people on the economy.

Ok but why do you say that? There must be reasons based on your experiences

I'm from Wellington - the capital of NZ. Everything you hear about the scenery and the clean & green image is all true.
But yes, what you said about the outflow of people is true, last year 25,000 kiwis crossed the ditch mainly because of these reasons - increased cost of living here, better comparative salaries and warmer weather. Career-wise graduates leave here because of the amount of student debt they owe by the time they finish studying - a few months ago it hit $10 billion. It is too much of a burden for someone starting out on a graduate salary. Despite all this NZ is a good place to live for the life style

Where are you from?

I’m from Sydney – the real capital of Oz (Canberra is just a place where politicians get together and have parties). The economic outlook here is pretty good considering the current state of the global economy. However, the cost of living here, like everywhere else around the world, has risen sharply and housing affordability in particular has decreased dramatically (for example, rent in Sydney has increased by about 26% in the past year alone). And although the government keeps telling us that the unemployment rate is low, the job market is not particularly good at the moment either. But I guess the jobs available would depend on the kind of profession you’re in. If you’re in the health or high-tech industry then your skills should be in pretty high demand. All in all, I’d still say that the economic opportunities here are better than those in NZ simply because Oz is a much bigger economy than NZ. If nothing else, you should probably come here because the chicks are hotter.

I'll tell you something that could get me lambasted. Even as a Sydney-sider, I'd much rather move to the Gold Coast. People who grew up in Sydney tend to stay in Sydney. Given the amount of immigration we've had in the past decade its no surprise the housing bubble is still blowing up. Buy an apartment somewhere close to the CBD? Over 1 million. Maybe 2 if you can get a glimpse of water. You can get a acreage property with a private dock, six rooms and effectively your own private beach for that amount anywhere else in the country.

Listen mate stay where you are as currently the whole world is in recession.
Since market item prices are up and the job market is not to good either unless you're Educated in Science, I.T, Engineering, Accounting, nursing.
If you're not skilled in those don't bother coming here to Oz.

Wait till the American's economy improve then maybe business here would improve. Since Australian economy and stock market are closely tied to the American market.

For something comfortable and decent you have at least 600 thousand / million dollars to buy property here in Australia for a decent place to live. Only cheap property would be available in very quiet suburbs that are usually an hours drive or more from any major cities in Australia.

To check about property pricing in Australia I suggest you go to www.domain.com.au. It give you a rough idea about Australia's property pricing.

You could rent a unit if you want to but to survive here in Sydney let alone Melbourne as well as any major Australian cites you need to earn an income of at least 2k and over.

If you fell that your salary range is not be
