weeeell... Haha, but don't laugh. My first "local" in Sydney was the Monkey's. Yeh,I know! First time I went there, I hated it. But friends were dragging me there again and again, and after knowing the complete bar staff (and dating one of them - Japanese ) and after knowing the manager and all the bouncers, it was soooo fun, and it kinda felt like home Hmmmmmmm.... (memories...) Haha, was so funny when two or three of the bouncers were playing bodyguards for me and a friend one night, cause we could't dance without having guys hit on us! Lol, that was soo funny, and when we left one of the bouncers said: "Thanks for all the trouble, girls!" Why, you're welcome
But then I discovered the Hip Hop clubs, and I loved going to 411 on Saturdays, I heard it's still big... And I absolutely love good bar on Oxford, on a Wednesday night. Best Hip Hop parties ever!! I dunno if they're still on... But that's probably one of the first clubs I wanna go back to when I'm back in Oz!

Now why aren't I surprised Moonshade?
Me, fav cafe Corelli's at Newtown. Used to drop there everytime after work (late like 11PM, I was a waiter at one point in my life) and still go there everytime I get the chance.
I remember that place in the late 90's,they used to have an extremely picky door policy.
I don't have any "favourite" club or even bar to be honest.I did have one in the late 90's though.
Riva nightclub on Castlereagh St,but they shutdown when the Hotel was taken over.
Hehe, funny, I was living on Castlereagh St last time I was in Oz. Hey, isn't anyone else into Hip Hop? And Hip Hop clubs? That scene seems to be pretty small and hidden in Sydney, it took me about 3 months to find the first decent Hip Hop party. But once you're "in", you know where you have to go
Btw, is there any "stigma" to people who tend to listen to a certain kind of music? Like for example in Germany they say the ones listening to Hip Hop are "wannabe" ghetto people (which is partially true but mostly bullsht) or that people listening to Techno/House are on drugs. (which is probably bullsht for the most part as well).

How about Australia?
Really? All my asian friends ever listen to is 'RNB' and 'Hip Hop' (the kind that makes them think their from the ghetto studs with big balls and treat all girls like s***s arrgghh, gets to me) and they have no trouble finding Asian only RNB clubs that to me feels like a meat market whore house. I'm not dissing Hip-Hop and RNB (I listen to some), but thats the kind of 'RNB' and 'hip-hop' they listen and go out to. (ahh, it's been building in me for a while :vent: ) So I guess there is a stigma, or perhaps that's just the kind of people I hang around with. They generalise me too, I listen more to downtempo, dub, or laid back deep house, and sadly there isn't really a scene for it in Sydney.
Nightlife here for young people are either pubs, dance nightclubs, or RNB nightclubs, basically something up and go, rather than down and mellow. So limited, I heard in Europe it is much more varied and better. I am yet to find a mello downtempo night club. Any suggestions anyone?
PS: On a side note, does anyone else think a lot Asian guys (in their teens to mid twenties) listen only to 'Hip hop' and 'RNB' ?
Which ones are those "all Asian" R&B/Hip Hop clubs? Don't tell me Shark Bar, lol!
I used to go to Hunny (UN) on Fridays, 411 (pumphouse) or Mylk on Saturdays and good bar on Wednesdays. Sometimes star bar, but only when I needed somewhere to hang out (yeah, I was pretty much addicted to going out when I was in Oz) or some bars at Darling Harbour. I haven't been to "Home" (the friggin long lines always put me off) but I would like to see it at least once.
