Uh, no - it's the right-wing dominated Japanese govt. at fault when it plays down, dismiss or rewrite past atrocities (the media is just reporting it).

I'd say that Asians dislike the policies of the Japanese govt. rather than the Japanese people (unless they happen to be a right-winger).

Heck, some of the leading proponents in the US for Japan to address the "comfort women" issue are Japanese-Americans (does this mean they hate the Japanese?).

And what about the Okinawans who raised a fuss when the govt. approved the revision in history text-books which removed any mention of govt. policies which led Okinawans to commit mass suicides or kill children and other family members prior to the US invasion during WWII?

Is this any different than how the Korean Zainichi are mistreated in Japan (or that of Asian immigrant laborers from China, etc.) – most of whom are descendants of slave laborers who were forcibly removed from Korea. Or how about the Japanese press which blames crime on Asian immigrant laborers?

Nonetheless, there really isn’t any such Japanese-bashing among the assimilated Asian-Americans.

Japanese people have too much pride. So do Chinese. So do Koreans. That's why none of us get along. Nobody is willing to admit when they've gone too far.

I think the Japanese government is too full of themselves to admit, or even take seriously how the rest of Asia often looks upon them with a certain amount of suspicion.
As a Japanese-American born outside of Japan and a student of history, I can tell you that what Japan has been able to accomplish as an new industrialized, and military power is nothing short of amazing. However, in order to get those accomplishments, Japan unwisely thew on the horse blinds then resolved to do whatever it took to get it. By "hook, or by crook" as it were...

I think in a lot of ways, Japanese politicians still think this way.

In 2050, alone and on its current track? Japan would get totally screwed. Hell even with US intervention that far out my money is still on China.

Whereas today, that's a different story.

indeed... u need good weapons/technology to harnass your countries power in war, but its the economy/resources that drives the war machine, without it, you're doomed if you arent able to take your enemy out in an intiate invasion.

I don't think it is going to be the war between these two countries. These two countries are going to united just like many other Asian Countries.
