As some of you may already know:

(a) Risky has chosen to move out of the Admin role on this site.
(b) Nomad has taken a leave of absence..return date unknown.

Risky did not make an announcement other than a thread in the Men's area and Nomad made a post in her blog. Therefore, lots of members have no idea about the above changes and may be sending PM's to these folks asking for help.

On top of this, all of us on the admin team get IM's/PM's, respond to open forum posts and others that choose to use the Contact Form....ends up in site email that I may or may not respond to.

Starting today, ALL requests/questions about the site should be directed to the HelpCenter. The link is located in the top left navigation box. or click here: HelpCenter

You have the option to Open a Ticket, mark it as public or private and enter the question/problem in the interface. Once you submit the ticket, ALL admins have access to respond to the ticket. The admins and/or yourself can edit/close a ticket. It's your responsibility to check back on the ticket for a reply.

Thanks for your quick reply in answering my question posted in the Helpcenter last week. I had a strong feeling that AL had a no port scanning policy just like most other websites, but had to ask anyway.

I'm not sure if your question was rhetorical or not, but the reason for my question was simply to eliminate a port scanning incident I had last week while connected to the internet and AL was one of the websites I visited. Port 21 was specifically targeted during the scan. As you're already aware of the common use for Port 21, it's often used for direct FTP connections and many server programs listen on port 21 for connection requests and control messages from other computers that want to upload or download files. Port 21 is also commonly used to access files on remote computers, which makes it a popular target for hackers.

I'm trying to figure out if the port scanning was a result of some foolish hacker or as part of my current standard training ops relating to information security.
