There has been a lot of talk over the years about people stating their preferences in threads addressed specifically to a certain group.

This has been the source of many headaches and heartaches for a lot of members.

It has been suggested that the admin team systematically nuke threads that have an exclusive tone to them.

What do you think?

Would it be a good thing?

Would you feel censured?

Should we gently remind the creators of such posts that this site is all inclusive and so should they or should we give their creation the axe?

i'm not sure if you mean the wf topics but i don't think it would really be fair...it doesn't bother me if a guy has a preference for a certain race, etc. i'm not trying to speak for anyone else though..even if it doesn't pertain to me, i could always skip it.

i agree. i think that if everyone is still being courteous/respectful, it should be ok. it would be ridiculous of me to get bent if there was a thread about how much guys love blondes for example. if thats what they appreciate, then so be it. now if they were bashing brunettes, i can see some justification in getting bent. otherwise, people need to grow thicker skin. not everyone is going to like the same thing.

Honestly Bergie - that is an avenue I would tread carefully along if I were you. Although I fully understand your thinking process, it could lead to a lot of unintended consequences for the admin team in my mind. I think you would end up with lobbying to have some threads deleted, other threads saved - perhaps even likely with two warring factions about the same thread at the same time. Whichever decision you make - you'll then likely get the barrage from the unhappy group.

Ultimately - you'll have to act by your conscience, but for myself - I don't need a lot of hand holding. I can look at most thread titles and see which I should leave be. If I happen to get one that bothers me for any reason - one that doesn't spark the need in me to make a point about - I know how to close it again and move on to other waters. I also know how to walk away from the computer entirely for a while.

I've never been a fan of deleted threads because it always seems to cause confusion later - a lot of he said/she said stuff without evidence to clear things up. I'm also instinctively cautious of setting too many policies in stone - sometimes simpler is better. But then again - I'm for small, less invasive government styles anyway...*smile*

I'd love to say that everyone should be able to have their preferences ... but I've seen more drama and strife causes from the preferences threads over the last few years than I can count.

If it's not the black vs white thing, it's fat vs. thin, blonde vs. brunette ... and even certain races of Asians versus another Asian race, it's going to be something else to get everyone upset. While I can sit back and not give a flying fuck if someone isn't interested in me because I'm white, fat and blonde ... I can see that others are very bothered by it.

I wish everyone could just let everyone have their preference and be adult about it - realizing it's nothing personal. With as many people there are in the world, trying to get everyone to love you and accept you for who you are is not worth the battle ... there are tons of people who will do it without your energy being put into it. So based purely off of the recent "upset", I think deleting the threads will need to be a necessary evil for now ... I don't like censoring people but sometimes it's for the best.

In my opinion, it would be a bit hypocritical to delete posts about Asian mens' preferences for ethnicity, etc., since this entire website is dedicated to womens' preference for Asian men. We all have our personal preferences, and not everyone is going to be attracted to everyone else.

As long as the threads are presented in a positive light, without bashing women of other ethnicities (or various other factors), I don't see why they should be closed.
