As a Finnish woman, I give you some answers.
Hehe, there is some truth to that quote. Not all Finnish women love foreign men, but many of them do. Even more than half of Finnish women would maybe love to have a foreign boyfriend. What comes to countries, everyone has her preference. I wouldn't go for macho country men, as I have never been into gigolos. But it is true that Finnish men are very bad-behaving, and since we have seen what men are like abroad and many of them like fair maidens, are kind and polite, of course if we can, we rather choose a good guy than a drunken Finnish idiot who has no other life than treating women badly and drinking beer.

I think dating rules in Western countries are pretty universal. You can hit on a girl in Finland in similar places as in the UK, USA, France, Austria or whatever. We don't like aggressive guys. Laid back is better. A beautiful, GENUINE smile (Finns appreciate honesty very high), be genuinely interested in her and SHOW IT. Gentleman-like gestures are good. If Finnish women feel uneasy about due to equality crap (this time crap, if gentlemanlike-gestures are supposedly degrading) then you can say that men treat women well in your country. In bigger towns young women usually speak English. But a word of warning: in the country you might meet possessive and aggressive Finnish men if you try to seduce "their" women. I would say that you are pretty safe in Helsinki centre.

HEY HEY! That is maybe true of women of your country, but not mine.

Finnish women have worked side by side with their men
for centuries, and there are centuries old writings about that. Anyone who is a gold-digger is regarded as a whore in Finland. Those kind of women are never popular in Finland. However, Finnish women appreciate good education, as they are often interested in developing themselves, learning new things and stuff, and they think that academic men have the same kind of tendency compared with a guy whose only interest is just drinking beer and insulting women. One more thing, eagle: if you are successful, you are allowed to talk about it, but bragging is a big NO-NO. In general Finns don't brag, and a selfish brag is not well-regarded.
