I'm sad to admit but my mother told me this. She gave it as excuse for why she didn't let my father take us to France. Later she admitted that the usa was best for her and my sisters. I think she resented the good times my father had there.
I think that your parents and my parents are from the same generation. My parents were educated with French education system because when they were young, Vietnam was a colony of France.
When my family left Vietnam more than 30 years ago, we had a choice between France and the USA, but my mother chose France because she was fluent in French and not in English.
But the USA is not a bad choice. I have two brothers who live in Orange county in Southern California and I used to go there frequently to visit them. I know very well Little Saigon in Southern California and I have a lot Vietnamese friends there. They're not doing too bad there.
Hey Min, tells us something about your life in France as an educated Asian French. By the way, I am coming to Paris on the 28th. Can you give me some tips on what to do in Paris?
You can visit all the monuments of Paris like the Eiffel tower, the Louvre museum, the Sacre Coeur basilica or the Champs Elysees avenue.
If you're used to the laid back atmosphere of the South France, be prepared for a shock because right now, the weather in Paris is shitty, people are snobbish and rude, there are plenty of traffic jams and the Metro is fucking dirty.
And end August, it's the moment when the Parisians come back from holidays. It's gonna be a huge mess again as usual in Paris.
I appreciate that the usa is a democracy and there's opportunity here. But I think France would have been better for my brother and me.

Since I know both, the USA and France, I will say that for an AM, it's easier to make a lot of money in the USA but it's easier to date a lot of chicks in France.
Yes people pay a lot of tax in France that's why education and medicaids are dirty cheap.. But from my experience, French medical and education systems still have a lot to improve on. Most schools obviously have run down buildings and outdated technology. The medical system here sucks. Compare to the U.S., it takes a long time to see a doctor and take care of your problem here. The doctors here definitely don't know how to treat a patient and don't create that tight knit relationship with the patient. In fact, Canada seems to have the same problem. The professors and doctors here definitely need more training. People in France definitely have easy access to education and medics but you get the quality ones in the U.S. The bottom line is, it takes some $$$ out of your own pocket to get those in the U.S. I love France but prove me wrong, U.S. education and doctors are second to none in the world.
