Can a asian-french person say what it's like in France. I wonder cause my father wanted to take my family to France from Vietnam to escape the communists. He graduated from university in France. But my mom refused to go so we went to the usa instead. Long story but it didn't work out good for him. He had to learn new language. Didn't fit in with US culture. He had "pencil-pusher" job until retirement. After retiring my mom divorced him. He used to tell me about his good times in France. He had french girlfriends. He hitch-hiked through europe during school breaks.

I wanted to leave it open ended so people feel free to share what they want. The culture of the usa is not so good for AMs. People have in their minds bad stereotypes from the media. Maybe for AMs in the usa dating is more challenging because of images/preconceptions women have. Even in business world AMs are often overlooked for management positions. I wonder if it's the same in France. Have you spent much time in the usa?

I know very well the situation of AMs in the USA in the dating scene because of the media. In France, it's a little bit different. French media are generally neutral towards Asians except some cases where they are talking about Communist China. Otherwise Asians like Japanese, Koreans or Vietnamese are appreciated here for their cultures.

Generally speaking, being Asian doesn't confer you an advantage or disadvantage. You're considered as anybody else. If you're smart, good looking and nice, you will have a lot of success in the dating scene. If you're nasty, ugly and dumb, it's gonna be pretty hard for you to do well.
