I would say that older generations regard food in a different way than young ones. In E Europe where food was in coupons during the Iron Curtain era, they dreamed of having a piece of fat. I guess they didn't know much about the importance of veggies, what too much sugar and salt can do to you etc.
Now that E Europe is open to the West, I am sure that especially young ones more interested in and have access to information about healthy eating. And this has also to do with the prices of booze, meat, veggies, ciggies etc and how they are culturally viewed.
Then of course it would be crazy to think that a girl who is 23 today looks the same when she is 53. We all age and we'd better just accept it. But of course, some people age better, some people age worse, and by your own choices you can make yourself look better than your friend who chooses to smoke, drink too often, eat candy with every meal and eating at KFC or McD's at least once a week... Then there are genes too, but that is something we can do nothing about.
