There are good sides and bad sides in Finland, just like everywhere. But I try to be positive and think of the good sides now:
*as Ratbert said, free education. We don't pay those shit-expensive tuition fees. Just a student union fee of a couple of hundred bucks per year. But that is why Finns pay high taxes... But at least we don't go bankrupt because of hospital bills.
*maternity and paternity leave. in Finland mothers can take up to 3 years of maternity leave. Fathers' role is nowadays emphasized as well, and it is seen as the father's right to get to be with his children and take care of them
*Warm houses. Good insulation, double or triple glazing, cheap electricity. Now you know why Finns are freezing abroad. We are used to be in warm houses
*Infrastructure. The public transportation is punctual by the second, ticket system modern etc. TTC seems like from the Stone age in my eyes.
*Good hospitals. Baby deaths are of the lowest in the world.
*Literacy percentage is 100. Even retards can read in Finland.
*Technology-economic achievements: NOKIA, Linux, KONE, SUUNTO etc.
*Sauna. GOSH I miss that. In Toronto, I have seen Swedish-style freezing saunas. Yuck!
*According to a PISA study, Finnish kids are THE BEST READERS IN THE WORLD
*The Finnish passport. We are a member of the European Union, and we have a good reputation abroad. If we want to leave Finland for some reason, it is as easy as moving to another town in Finland, if we move inside Scandinavia. It is almost as easy if we move inside the EU. Me moving to Canada, well, I am sure that I got in more easily than Afgans or Somalis would... Finnish passport = we can get outta there!!!

There you go.
