I don't know about the other European countries, but in Germany these are the most special summer nights. Whichever team wins gets a choir of car horns by its followers after the game, until midnight the whole family is on the street or in the pubs, watching the games. No matter, how hard I try to avoid it, whenever I see the first minute of a game, I'm also taken by the spirit...
Anyone else watching?

I watched the championships in 2006, I think. For once it was interesting to see football games. Generally speaking I am not interested in football. UK and Italy are big football countries, at least...
Even though we fucked things up and failed to qualify there is no way in hell that I couldn't watch. Opening match was crap Portuagl's match was better but they looked unconvincing to me. Go Oranje!

The Switzerland vs Czech Rep match was crap I don't think the pitch helped matters overall the players lacked any quality if Rosicky was playing there may have been a bit more of an attacking spark. The Portugal vs Turkey match was a lot better more end to end and open play. Portugal were clearly better with more skilful players but their defence seems a bit suspect down the flanks and Kazim Richards was skinning Ferriera all night but Turkey don't have a decent striker so they didn't pose a threat in the box. Portugal hit the bar 3 times and actually scored 2 good goals bit lucky with the first but the second was good. Ronaldo was largely anonymous and Arbeloa nearly snapped Nani's leg and Turkey were diving all over the shop.

Swiss vs Czech Republic match was boring in the 1st half but the goal by Czech was nice. I was so happy to see Swiss lose after how they beat my team in WC2006.
Portugal vs Turkey was OK game. but the last goal was very nice. Euro 2008 is one comepetetive international tournament.
