I'm gonna add one more thing here before I shut my trap.

I think one of the biggest problems is everyone feels this need to identify with a group, tribe, ethnic group, race, religion, etc.

A lot of people want to say that we're all alike. Yet, when you look at the evidence, we're not all alike. My dreams and ambitions, aren't your dreams and ambitions. Your goals and reactions, aren't the same as mine. A lot of times, we lose our individuality when we keep looking to be a part of something, so when topics come up that offends a segment of a group that we want to be a part of, we take it personally.

Call it selfish, but our individuality is just as important as our need to be a part of a group. Sometimes, you just have to detach yourself from the offended part, and realize that you're still you, that you know who you are, and that you've got friends and family who appreciate you for who you are. Stop taking the offenses of a group on your shoulders. It's not your baggage to take on. It's information to make you aware, which is a big difference between that, and information for you to take personally.

So, if I've offended anyone, on one hand, I'm glad that I made you react and think. Or in most cases, just react. But on the other hand, it wasn't meant for you personally.

You are right and I see your point.
But people might please remember that every reader reacts differently, that's why I think it necessary to pick words wisely.

Everybody knows about individuality and the cutural differences between nations I think.

I personally sometimes feel unease when certain topics come up though. I will admit that the mere mentioning of certain things will make me avoid threads or protest in others. You are right, another german who is a nazi does not define my own identity.
But the feeling still sometimes comes up.
This for example was a thread about french women and beauty ideals, believe me, as a german I don't like to see someone reporting about racist german skinheads there, I end up wondering where the hell that comes from in here.

I am not angry with you guys, I just try to explain how it can feel for someone else.
Less internet experienced people tend to take things even more serious sometimes.

Maybe my own wording in this thread was too harsh. Guys, I am really not angry, just tried to explain something.
My use of the word "pissed" was unfitting, I meant it in a more general way.
You know, I sometimes sound harsher than I mean it.

Sorry for the misundertanding.

Well, I was pissed off, and just open my trap a little too much ^^.
But I wont apologize.
We are all different that's a matter of fact, we can't love everybody even in our own neighbourhood, hell no, I hate almost all my neighbourhood xDD.
My biggest problem here was just about ethnicity (Im sorry I can't just say "race" it's somehow bugs me, who knows why ..), and how some experiences was made as something common. Whatever the difference of culture, from my point of view it's not what who tears up appart the most... It's how quick you can judge someone, somegroup, because of what you heard, or lived. That's it.
Just My point of view^^. This forum would be boring if we were all the same anyway ..

Live your dream, don't dream your life.

That's great for french women , they should come here and teach american women a thing or two. As far as racial portrayals .... Hollywood is joke beyond fucktardation , glad some people recognize that.

Wow, so much angst in here.....

Ok, so from my observations in Paris last year I didn't see too many French women with Japanese men period, heck I barely saw any Japanese men at all (my age that is). What I did see was French women with Vietnamese men. Especially my age group. At the Asian Fever club night's I went to, if there was a French female (lets say white or creole) she was with a Viet and I was right there with em. It's just what I saw, simply put.

Perhaps the good thing is however that this"love" is steadily spreading on to other European countries as well.
Indeed, The French started the old trend of "japonisme" in Europe, and extended from merely interest in the dociel Japanese feminine aesthetics, and interest in anything that was Japanese.

Though, I kionda disagree of the rococo point...I thought the Japanese were interested in emulating Napoleonic-, then Prussian-style fashions then anything else.
