I've lived in Paris since almost ever, I'd like to hear that way more often from French women then lol. I'm very surprised and well... It's not like I don't agree but I DO , but from my experience, generally, I think that as a WM you are more popular with French girls/women than an AM. Anyway, I'm septic and doubtful about that.
A recent French newspaper opinion survey has French female readers voting Asian men as the most attractive men in the world instead of the white American men depicted as the model by Holywood movies.
Both the French male readers and the French female readers rejected Holywood's American stereotypes.
The French male readers voted for Brazilian women as the sexiest women in the world.
And the French female readers voted for Japanese men as the sexiest men in the world.
You should read more carefully your source. The French female readers didn't vote for the Asian men, they voted for the Japanese men.
You should know that here in France, the Japanese enjoy a very positive image. Japan is a rich, first world country. There are several Japanese Fashion designer based in Paris like Kenzo, Issey Miyake or Johji Yamamoto who are very famous and successful in the French domain of Haute couture. The Japanese culture is highly regarded too with literature authors like Mishima or Kawabata. There are also several Japanese film directors who are winners of the Cannes film festival like Akira Kurosawa, Shoei Iamamura or Nagisa Oshima. Not counting the mangas or Anime from Japan or the Japanese products like Sony, Toyota, Honda, Lexus or Canon which are considered high end products.
I really doubt that the French female readers consider the Chinese or the Vietnamese the sexiest men in the world. The Chinese immigrants from Mainland China like the Wenzhou or the Dongbei are very despised by the French population who consider them vulgar, rude and dirty. Like they say in French "il ne faut pas mélanger les torchons avec les serviettes" or " One should not confuse the dishcloths with the towels".

that may be the case in france, but not so in los angeles.
Like the posting said, when the local govt is foresighted enough to encourage the population to appreciate a different language and the people are proudly independent of their own unique culture, it makes a hell of a difference, unlike say the US where the majority are proud of their ignorance as a cultural trait, have sheep like mentality when it comes to what they believe in and are going thru a noxious period of post 9-11 xenophobia.

I am not sure how it is in France, but I can imagine that French women like Japanese men, not all Asian men. Europeans classify people by nationality and ethnicity (Japanese, Korean, French, German, English, Kenyan, Somali etc). Americans and Canadians do it by race (Asian, white, black etc). In my country as well, Japan is a highly regarded country as it is rich, first world country, clean, technologically advanced and the culture is exotic to us. Same with "Eastern Tigers" Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and other rich East Asian places. More and more people are interested in China, though...
