That's true general perceptions mean a lot but less if you understand that every culture has its particular quirks that's hard to understand.
Currently the financial stocks have all been bouncing hard for technical reasons as well as what you mentioned..short covering. All of them are riding a double wave from a massive short squeeze. However, fundamentally most are still damaged. I would stay far away, you have to look at things in terms of risk versus reward. If you invest longterm do it through proven fundamentals..not what you "think" may be a value investment. A lot of these smaller institutions have all sorts of complex debt leveraging that won't be apparent until the house of cards collapses. Ala..Indymac and Bear Stearns.

I'd say one of the few and only exceptions is Goldman Sachs I really really like GS because they have a great team and they have been able to stay away from most of the sub prime investments. This is a stock I buy whenever it gets pushed way down to support levels with the rest of the financial stocks (Don't buy it now while it's high)

I really believe anything else is a gamble. It'll take at least another year before we have a complete picture.

True about the quirks. Im saying ive had more positive experiences 5 days in Paris then I have being born and raised 20 years in So cal. Is the point im trying to bring out. Though I have had some down here as well.

But with FMNTQ though the BK judge formed an offical equity commitee on top of that in their filings they said they want to preserve NOL's in excess of 600 million. in order to do that they imposed a restriction in trading mroe than 5% of shares (ownership change) and they cannot, CANNOT cancel common shares out, as with MOST BK stocks. It may be a different play...but who knows I agree with you most of th emortgage,bank and financial stocks have been pwnt. Think about it though, will GS give you 100-2,000 percent return? in the near term. I played (Accredited home Lenders) LEND last summer, made a 2 bagger there, then rode up Novastar (NFI/NOVS.PK) after a hard bounce, then unfortunatly bought FMT at .50 cents lost some there, then avg down at .18. and am holding.

Examples of BK stocks that gave huge returns in BK: (increase in value, than got converted and warrents are Mirant and Calpine) I somewhat belive FMNTQ could be a potential 10-20 bagger. But who knows....I just wanted to ask you since I do not have a Level II if the volume is based on buying itnerest or just short covering..or maybe leak of good news (Sale of their bank for BV+58 million cash this friday/Monday)

As for the South of France, I'm assuming you guys mean the cote d'azur parts? Montpellier is also the south of France, and the people there are definitely not like those in Provence... However I do agree that speaking French increases your chances with a French woman by a significant amout
