I didn't see very many asian men when I was there a couple weeks ago, so you might just be a hot commodity ;-).

Being a hot commodity as an asian MAN ANYWHERE in the world is a little too optimistic.....As I said when I went to Paris the reactions were FAIRLY positive, nothing great.
I posted to ask traveler or that other guy who went to South of France or anyone who has seen or knwos for a fact how the sentiment is generally towards an asian man/asian american.-thanks!
I can say for certain that Americans are not well-liked at all. Doesn't affect me, I ain't a Yank.
As I said before, I found Belgians to be colder than the average European, so I just hung around other Europeans.
In most places, minorities rarely get a very positive image. Asians are no exception.
If you are cultured, polite, well-dressed (I don't mean American clothes), and fairly good looking, you will get more attention than in North America.
Other than that, I can't lead you on too much because each person experiences stuff so differently. One friend of mine went to HEC in Paris and was throughly disappointed.
In other words, I'll say I had plenty of good times there but some people didn't, and there were times where I was extremely uncomfortable. So I can't promise you anything.

Yeh as I said in my last post that was a little too optimistic. How about your white american friends? any of them have a bad time or did they all have a blast and it was just the minorities that did not? Any asian guys you know of who said they had a blast?
I agree with you each person regardless of color will have different experiences but mroe or less id like to get a general sentiment im nto asking for promises from you or anyone. Againm I hope I get more input hopefully more positive ones!
The American girls got picked up a lot because people thought they were easy pickings. For the most part, they were right.
American guys, from what I've seen and heard, only got into fights and never got any. And yes, they were all WASPy jocks. It wasn't because they were bad looking, its just they were acting like jocks, could only speak English, and just did not fit the bill for a lot of people.
As for minorities I was the only minority out of 200 exchange students, so...I am not a very representative sample.
If I had to do it again I will NOT pick Belgium. It isn't because I did not love it, I did! I liked it and all because of the other Erasmus students but you have to realize Belgians are quite shy. Germany and France and the Netherlands will be crazier (esp German parties I hear).
I will say to you: General sentiment for you will be Range from slightly negative or slight positive, averaging around neutral. Then it'll be up to you.
