I'm happy to hear other asian guys have the similar experience as I did. Yes, in Eastern Europe the women actually approach you or initiate conversation. In Krakow Poland (this is a college town), the women were awesome. I have to say, they have one of the most beautiful women in Europe and they are very open. Such happy and bubbly personality, it is hard to choose, but don't be greedy. Polish women are very honest about their feelings and straight forward as someone has said.
They all thought I was Japanese (I'm actually Viet, Hakka, Japanese). They have no problems with Asians but if you look like a geek, you're a geek anywhere in this planet. There are a few Asian foreign exchange students there. I met a few North Vietnamese students (know from the accent, I speak southern viet) there surprisingly, but strangely they think I'm Japanese which is not a bad thing at all.
haha glad to hear you had a great experience there. Not sure when you went but a black guy from London said a lot of expats have invaded the area since I went 2006 and not sure when soccer is gonna make Ukraine and Poland get full of expats... Gosh I wish I could fly to Poland right now!
LOL, yes...I have and I am aware of the size of Americans. But Europe is fast in catching up! Also, there is not much age difference with you and I....and I personally find the larger people to be close in age also.
Yeah, unfortunately other continents are catching up as well, as well as Asian countries. On top of that all the greedy American corp. are going over seas and targeting a new market.
Well regardless of age differences Im glad people in your "area" are aware of the issue as well.

lol.....yeah everyone thought I was either Chinese or Japanese too. Glad to know I look the same in every continent of the world! I was talking to some Swiss-German girls in Amsterdam and one them said something to me directly unfortunately I had no idea what she was saying and her sister who spoke English went off somewhere. I have an idea, dont wanna jump to any conclusions, but your right they seem more straight forward with their feelings and no games.

I was there in 2006, January to be exact. In fact, I'm still in contact with a polish girl I was with when I was there. She is still at uni, so I have a place to stay if I stop by on my next around the world trip. Oh yeah, don't go to Europe in Winter, it's freakin cold mate! Going around the world in one backpack you don't have enough clothing for European winter. Very depressing environment in winter time.
Ever seen the movie Hostel 1 or Hostel 2, if you want to go where the hottest percentage of women per capita, I suggest you go to Slovakia (Bratislava). It was too cold for them to come out so I didn't see many women or people in general, but out of the 10 women I saw in the two days I was there, 8 of them were absolutely beautiful. I didn't try to hook up with one, I didn't want to end up like the movie Hostel Although I met one on the train leaving Slovakia for Austria, I should contact her now that it's on my mind.

hey USAOz, how do you find the same approaches working in the US and Oz? out of curiosity since I'm from Canada. I wonder if you get different responses from European girls vs American/Ozzie girls?
Also, I'm thinking of Russia/Poland in November, is it too cold then?

The women in OZ are awesome. I can't complain. It all depends on the city you live here as well and type of women you're looking for. But generally, the women are a little more open, but then again I've been very lucky or is it the "Asian Persuasion". I don't see a lot of AM/WF couples but when I do, those guys are usually non geeky looking like the 99 percent of the Asians here in Oz and the chick is hot. I say a well rounded outgoing Asian-American will do just fine. One thing is universal, most women like a well built guy and if you're asian, it is more exotic because you're rare. A Stuttgart(Germany) girl I was with asked me if I was half american(meaning white) and I'm not even that muscular I just train in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
As far as Poland or Russia in November, you have to check the forecast mate I wouldn't go to Russia though, but then again I have not been there so I shouldn't be too closed minded. I suggest you go to Croatia or Slovenia, they are fairly warm and friendly at least from my experience Let me know if you go, I have to book an Around the World flight again and make it home this Christmas, this time I got baggage so no new adventures mate.
I've just got a job offer from a multinational company in Krakow. I'll be there working as a researcher probably from December. I like Manchester, but western level of wage in Krakow is completely irresistable.
So, I have to say farewell to my beloved England soon.
