AznLover EuropeDiscussions about living, working, studying, visiting, or playing in Europe.
I was there when I was 16. It was 40C in Paris, and we had just about half an hour to see all the essential in the Italian wing. Sure one could use more time there, but we had a really tight schedule.
If you go to Louvre, hope you'll have more time there than I did
I could go to Paris again.. It was such a long time ago I was there... And there are still places I didn't see, such as Versailles.
I've been to the Louvre about 8-10 times. I'm lucky enough to spend about 4 weeks each year in Paris, and I usually get to The Louvre each time I visit the city. Its great because I just head in and see certain areas of the museum now. I'll spend a couple of hours or so walking around. Its so vast that to grasp it all in one go is difficult. The one thing that struck me after the first couple of visits is that the building itself is so magnificent. It used to be one of the royal residences, and if you look up in a lot of the rooms, the painted ceilings are incredible.
Most DEFINITELY planning to do so in the future - no doubt about it. I'm envious of those who has! In fact I'll visit just about every galleries in europe that have old masters' works in their collection.

In the national museum of Amsterdam they have some Van Gogh paintings.
In Amsterdam, not only do they have "some" Van Gogh paintings, they have the Van Gogh Museum. A whole museum full of Van Gogh's including a lot of his Japanese style artwork that most people don't know about. I haven't been there since the renovation back in 2000, and would like to see what changes they've made.
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has an amazing collection of works from the Dutch Masters.
Ok - must also go to Amsterdam for my big euro trip!!! (Not too sure when that wil be but hopefully in the next year or two). Alongside John William Waterhouse, Van Gough is another favourite artist of mine. To see some of his originals before my own eyes would be magnificent.
I was taken on a tour of the Louvre... many decades since i went as a kid . If you have time, you should eat at the grand louvre restaurant which is in the glass pyramid and open to the public with no admission (i think) and remains open long after the museum closes.
but yes... i recommend a visit!

You just have to be the worst
What can I brag about then? Well I have seen Munch's "Scream" in Oslo national gallery which is now stolen and gone. But maybe you have seen it 10 times
