Hey dudes, me and some of my mates are thinking of going on a Kontiki tour which is where you go around europe for a couple of weeks and basically have a ball.

We were thinking of hitting Italy, Sweden, Finland, England, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

From out of curiousity im curious on the Italian's attitude towards asain males. I met ppl from sweden, finland, denmark and netherlands and oh the english as well and theyre quite open and friendly torwards us.

However i never really heard an opinion from the italian's perspective. Yes i have some italian mates (and theyre great) but they never been to italy and they assimilated to the australian culture.

Can anyone tell me their attitude towards us?

I can't say anything about Italians' opinions on AM and I don't think there are that many Italian members here. Maybe try some Italian forum? Or maybe Asian guys from this site can tell you what their experiences were.

What's with everyone's fears? Italy was wonderful, have a blast and don't go to Europe without hitting up Prague.

Just about everyone here raves about Prague!! Sounds like a place I must hit up asap.

I've only been to England (a few times) out of that group so I can't really add much. And I was there with an ex so the singles scene was invisible to me. My two cents is that women will approach you more if you are by yourself, moreso than with friends. So if you can wing it, go solo now and then!

My new team is based out of Europe (sometimes I feel like my job is Mission Impossible where I get a new team each assignment!) so I will be hitting a bunch of countries this year as well! w00t!

Instead of going Contiki, why not organise your own trip?

Half the fun of overseas travel is the constant problem-solving and process of discovery that keeps you constantly stimulated and buzzing.

With Contiki, you sit on your butt in a coach all day and put up with the same tossers all the time. Contiki is like a very expensive pubcrawl where the pubs are in different countries in another continent. That's not 'overseas travel'.

And, less is more, IMO. Too many countries on the itinerary means you don't see any of them or get a sense of the flavour.

Chances are that, with Contiki, you will come back with memories of seedy tourist bars, being badly hung over on the coach and hooking up not with the locals but with other Tour members (think about it, 7 countries in 14 days - who else you gonna meet?).

I'm with Xenzu...there's nothing more exciting and adventurous than travelling on your own.

I couldn't agree more. It's fun going with a really good guy friend or two, but if you hang out with anymore, you look like a stag party.

Going solo is a lot of fun. First, you don't have to worry about your friend not liking this place or that place, or going where he wants to go but you don't want to.

And you get to meet other hostellers if you feel bored. The biggest plus, is the freedom you get to hook up with local girls. Much better than hooking up with travelling girls.
