Instead of going Contiki, why not organise your own trip?
Half the fun of overseas travel is the constant problem-solving and process of discovery that keeps you constantly stimulated and buzzing.
With Contiki, you sit on your butt in a coach all day and put up with the same tossers all the time. Contiki is like a very expensive pubcrawl where the pubs are in different countries in another continent. That's not 'overseas travel'.
And, less is more, IMO. Too many countries on the itinerary means you don't see any of them or get a sense of the flavour.
Chances are that, with Contiki, you will come back with memories of seedy tourist bars, being badly hung over on the coach and hooking up not with the locals but with other Tour members (think about it, 7 countries in 14 days - who else you gonna meet?).
