Dang,
These guys beat me to the economics article. I'd been talking about writing from the ground point view about China and Latin America's deepening economic and diplomatic ties. Then again, this guy writes from secondary sources, not primary, so I can still make an entry, because my sources are from the ground IN Latin America.
Not to mention this guy is part of a right wing, neo-conservative institute, from a western centric perspective, and is writing from an ivory tower. BUT, he does make some valid points regarding economic ties, although on a social basis,I personally, from the ground view of a guy whose spent a LOT of time in Latin America, I'd contest some of his statements with the stuff I've been reading in the local newspapers, learning from local businesses, and from talking with everyday people.
So! Along the themes of the various articles I've posted in this forum, this one is economic. BUT, hell, ain't it great when someone else talks about the same thing you've been talking about for years?

China and Latin American are making eyes at each other and looking to deepen an already expanding relationship. The economic potential is huge for both sides, but Beijing's involvement with Cuba and Venezuela has already unsettled things in "the backyard of the United States"
