Well, I actually lived in Sao Paulo for almost a year and w/ a car.

Anyhow, as long as you are being careful and not showing off (w/ jewelry, watches, etc), you would be okay.

I had never had any bad experience happened to me. Although I do not stop at the red light when it is empty and late at nite driving.

In Rio, you have to be careful who you took home/hotel and watch out for drinks that people give you. But if you do not bring a lot of valuable stuffs and do not carry cash, then you should be okay.

I love living there and I would recommend it to people that want to live there. Just try not to go to dangerous area (favella) and make local friends then you would be okay.

Well, I´m currently bicycling through Matto Grosso Do Sul right now, through cowboy country, and instead of blabbing about how wonderful it is here, and how there´s tons of asians, and about the mixing of asian men and brazilian women, I´ll just let the photos speak for themselves. By the way, Campo Grande, the capital of Matto Grosso do Sul is 30% asian. Terrenos has a ton of japanese descendent ranchers, and chicken farmers. And I just met a brazilian chick whose dad, japanese 2nd generation, mom, brazilian, is drop dead gorgeous.

I ain´t ever coming back to the states.

The nice thing about traveling on the bicycle is you get LOTS of attention. Like from TV Globo, 3rd largest network in the world. Heh, the perks.

Hello Vietnamita, I saw your video on TV Morena (since I speak Spanish, it was easy for me to understand the Brazilian-Portuguese video). You are famous now. It seems that you have chosen Peru to start your trips (the other one in 2001 where you travelled through Central America to New Jersey was started from Peru too according to that video). Hey why don't you visit me the next time you stop by? my brother in law likes bicycling too, and although he might not be a PRO like you, he is taking it seriously too and he would die to hear about your adventures.

I want to go to Brazil!! I'm not gay but Brazilian women are HOT! I think its the mixing. My ex-coworker is from Brazil, he mentioned nothing about the crime, but I guess like anywhere maybe it depends on where exactly you stay. Perhaps if you stay in a suburb your safer or something? dunno.

I concurr! I'm dying to go there myself!
