Mongols are one of the most fascinating Asian people on earth. The video demonstrated their fighting tactics. They use a small band of horseback warriors to draw out the enemy and then once those guys get on a chase to an area, the archers kill them. Mongols used this tactic on many of their attacks.
In the battle in Europe against European Knights at Vienna, Mongols, while much smaller in numbers, took out 80,000 European Knights in one battle. Many Europe countries united to fight the Mongols. Mongols would have conquered Europe probably if it weren't for their emperor died and the brother who was leading the Europe assault force left to go home to fight other brothers for the crown. I visited Genghis Khan exhibit at the LA museum and learned a great deal. I also read a book on Genghis Khan. I also learned a great deal of Middle Eastern culture have heavy Chinese influence due to the Mongols. In many ways, Asians are connected to Arabs in the Middle East. Also, Mongols ruled Russia for many years and settled in many parts of Europe, especially Eastern Europe. Many people in Europe are actually mixed of Asian and white blood.
If Mongols were white, there probably would have been a ton of movies made about them by Hollywood. Because they are Asian, most people don't know much about them except Asians. I am glad someone is finally making a movie about them. They might be savages to many western eyes, but Mongols were one of the few cultures that actually integrated best of the best from different cultures they conquered into their society including religion and warfare. They took the best from Chinese, Turks etc and integrated into their army.
Also, I get sick when Hollywood keep using white actors to play Mongols if they are in any movies at all. It really is an insult. Another one is Attila the Hun. I saw a movie on him and they used all white actors. Attila was from Asia but by those movies you would think he is white.
When is this movie coming out? It looks really good. I can't wait to see it. I was hoping a Chinese director would do a movie on the Mongols since they are such a huge part of the Chinese history. Many Mongols are now Chinese and they are the largest minority other majority Han.
