Thumbs up Ping Pong Playa (2007)

Chinese-American kid dreams of becoming a basketball star to avoid his dead-end job and life in the boring suburbs.  Instead, he finds his true calling as a ping pong playa and coach.  Directed by Jessica Yu, I couldn't find the trailer for this flick but it seems a nice addition to the high-quality Asian-American films released recently such as Shanhai Kiss and The Motel.  Here's a link to the IMDB page.

I jsut saw the trailer on Yahoo movies..looks quite funny in fact...

really embarassing to watch

with all that drama tv it's no surprise jessica yu's comedic grasp is still stuck in pre-rush-hour 90's

it's a shame how asian americans in the media haven't been able to get past a complete reliance on "race-humor" in order to be funny

Quite a few of us saw this at the San Jose film festival and really liked it, thought it was very funny. I think it's coming back to SF this coming week for a short theater run.
What if Prince Charming had never shown up? Would Snow White have slept in that glass coffin forever? Or would she have eventually woken up, spit out the apple, gotten a job, a health-care package and a baby from her local neighborhood sperm bank?
