Substantial changes in the physiology of South Koreans have them coming to resemble the physiology of Western Europeans and North Americans. According to a study by the South Korean government, Koreans are becoming taller and wider. Interestingly enough, even their faces and heads are shrinking. This has led to athletic championships in sports such as swimming, speed skating, and fencing.
what a wacky way to qualify a study. I mean, sure, I can see how south koreans are getting broader, taller on average (as the japanese also are currently doing)-- but how's that equate to looking more western? Geez. I smells me an inferiority complex.
Are they folks also getting more hairy. Ok peoples. Never fear, I will go on assignment in Seoul to spread my genes and restore the balance.

According to one recent study on height changes in Europe, the average male height in Europe in the 19th century ranged from 5' 4" in Southern Europe to 5' 6" in Northern Europe, so I guess 19th century Europe wasn't
"Western" yet.
I wonder - has eating habits & access to certain kinds of food changed a lot since the Korean war? I mean, this is just a guess, but South Korea was a very poor country after the Korean war. And after wars food is in coupons and stuff - at least in Europe. Since Koreans made the country rise economically and living standard got better thanks to hard-working Koreans (this is something a Korean friend's dad is proud of, and I think this kind of patriotism is cool), maybe people got easier access to meat..? I have no idea what the truth is. Just guessing. If someone here knows how things are over there and why Koreans are getting taller, I would be interested to know
maybe they are adding growth hormones to the milk (via the cow). That's why American kids are so large and girls are filling out their shirts at such a young age.
