This is actually a Korean television series starring Korean Wave heart throb Bae Yong-joon.  At a budget of $46 million, it's the most expensive Korean television series ever produced.  The special effects are likened to that used in Lord of the Rings.

Complex plot covers multiple periods in ancient Korean history, including the founding of the kingdom Gojoseon in 2,333 B.C. and the reign of King Gwanggaeto of the Goguryeo Kingdom (391-413 A.D.). The Goguryeo era has emerged as a point of contention in recent years, with Chinese scholars claiming it should considered part of Chinese history.

The drama has been pre-sold by Kim Jong-hak Prods. to 70 territories and will begin a run on Japan's NHK in mid-October. Meanwhile, the drama's 290,000-square-foot set on Jeju Island, built at a cost of $23.7 million, has been turned into a theme attraction that has already drawn close to 20,000 local and international visitors.
