Great pics, Apollyon!
If you want to know how bad our Veterans hospitals used to be, read a book called, "Johnny Got His Gun".
Military pay is based on a 24 hr basis. When you do the math, it's even worse pay than you first thought.
If you get injured, or even sunburned so you can't work, and the military deems that it was your fault

they can and will courtmartial you for destroying government property.
Things are a little better now than they used to be, however, I find myself absolutely steeming because our troops lacked such things as simple heavy armor plates to protect themselves. The same ingenuity to scrape up what they need exists now as has always existed among the enlisted.
I've heard a lot of stories from friends and family about how shitty they were treated by the military. I've gone through all that crap myself, too.
I'm still very active in pursuing government benefits, and holding political leaders feet to the fire for our vets.
If I see a person who is wearing an insignia that indicates they are a Vet,
especially a Vietnam Veteran, I'll go up, introduce myself and thank them for the sacrifice they made. No matter how gruff their outward appearance, they always break down and cry. I was told once by a Vet that it helped him to heal emotionally.
