Hopefully they'll redub it in Chinese for the Chinese market. I'm not exactly optimistic but one can always hope.
I'll watch it in English anyway and cringe at Jackie Chan's accent. (Jet Li remains silent throughout the movie I think - makes sense given his English.)
I'm going to groan if the girl falls in love with him. I know it's going to happen, and I can't really blame the movie guys for doing it, but groan anyway.
Omg, this is the original kung fu (1972) all over again! Hahahaha I am first generation Chinese, I grew up reading the monkey king comics, watching the cartoons along with the first live action TV series aired in china. I don’t know what kind of audiences this film is targeted for, but certainly it is not for me……anyhow, I am not going to be closed minded about such project, maybe this film is made for those who are not familiar with the Chinese culture or original monkey king story. What better to present one of the most famous and enduring icon character of Chinese/Asian culture, then getting a white dude to play it?
Why does that darn music so familiar? Ah!!!!!! It's crunching tigger hidden dragoon, gotta be kidding me, same music producers, same choreographers......
"we can kill each other when it's over"......lol such a classic.
For sure wont watch this movie.
Because it is Tan Dun's "Hero" score.
A little carry-on baggage is ok, but baggage like that has to be checked at the door. Goldengirl, December 21st '08

Actually, it is more reminiscent of "Circle of Iron" (also known as "The Silent Flute"). A story written by Bruce Lee, James Coburn and Stirling Silliphant, directed by Richard Moore and starring David Carradine, Jeff Cooper...
I do not have high hopes for this one but let's wait and see. After all, Jet remains my favorite.

Either way, I think I am going to avoid this one like a bad case of crotch rot (which I've never had, but I assume would irritate me as much as this screen gem).
hahaha the boy finds and wields the legendary monkey king's staff at will, and Jetli suppose to play the imprisoned monkey king in the film, you know how this one will turn out.....i wonder who will actually save the helpless monkey king with his own staff?
