I have a friend in Virginia Beach near the Edgar Cayce Center who lives a block from the shore. We go to visit her and get massages and there are some surf breaks in the area. It is easier for us to go east to Delaware than south to the Norfolk, VA Beach area, though, because traffic on the 95 is so heavy.
My kid likes to go to Williamsburg so we go there several times a year.

Do you surf?
That's pretty awesome, I don't surf...I've never really lived close to the beach and only moved here little under a year ago. I prefer swimming in pools than I do oceans.
You might want to give the ocean a try! There is nothing more relazing to me that the ocean. Most of Virginia Beach is very gentle, with waves breaking right on the beach (shore breaks). But there are a few spots that are surfable. There is rarely any big surf all summer long. You can take a surf class if you want to try it and then just go rent boards. Or just go and play in the ocean. Or girl watch -- whatever.
We're going to the beach this weekend! Yeah! Up north of you though, at the state park in Henlopin, DE.

Yeah, I love the sounds of the beach. I rather go at night though, just to sit and watch because I fond it absolutely beautiful.
I might look into a surf class if I have time, juggling two jobs and trying to go back to school will leave me with like...no time to do anything except my anime conventions and japanese rock concerts.
