good, costs for those therapies are outrageous. oh well, people need to be taken care of and whatever means you have available are always good. why does it take five years for you to get that exam? shouldn't that be something that needs to be done sooner? yes, it was not your father who went through the cancer, but it is still immediately in your family.
let's say I'm 'loosely' on the list. Since my mother was diagnosed with cancer she had priority on everything, ER? no waiting, straight to the doc, any tests? no waiting, straight to the tests.
The doc basically suggested that I start a bit earlier than the others (apparently the age to get a colonoscopy is around 50) since my mom's had it, just in case he wants to start earlier so I think I'll go in my mid 30s.
I hate paying taxes at this outrageous rate but i'm also one of the citizens who really really take advantage and benefit immensely from the canadian health care system. Needless to say I'm thankful
The lazy way to greet all of you - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Do you think Canadian doctors are rude? I went to a walk-in clinic today, and the second time it happened that a doctor wouldn't even make an effort to shake my hand. Then this one asked questions of my personal life that are actually irrelevant to the issue that made me go to a clinic. When I left, again, no effort to shake my hand, she didn't look at me when I left... She was just buried in her papers. Maybe Canadian med schools skip the course of patient psychology and how to meet them. The thing is that you go to a doctor with your problems, you are vulnerable to them as you allow them to treat you and examine you.
If there are nice doctors in Toronto, I would love to have their names. Rather someone older (at least middle-aged) who is experienced.
Walk-in clinics are like that everywhere in the world. Whenever you have 100 patients to see in 3 hours, every second counts. Or else everyone behind you gets mad and impatient.
Family docs here are some of the best in the world. Specialists are sometimes a bit curt with their patients.
European doc's may be able to afford more time to patients because they are paid salaries often.
try a naturopathic medical doctor. Those doctors are just as qualified as any general practitioner and are so much nicer. Seriously, I have given up on western medicine and now see ND's instead of MD's.

I'm 100% with you on this one!
"Some kids piss their name in the snow. Chuck Norris can piss his name into concrete."
It's not like I've given up on western medicine. If I have an eye infection, or I might have an immediate problem like a stab wound, then I'll go and see a MD. But if other issues like weight loss, improving overall health, acupuncture for pain and joint problems, I'll go see a naturopathic doctor. The level of care goes up 100 fold because they'll do non invasive tests on you, flexible treatment options, and lifestyle change that can suit your needs. MD's don't have time to go through all that. Their number 1 priority is to keep you alive. Not to maximize your overall health like naturopaths do.
