AznLover North AmericaDiscussions about living, working, studying, visiting, or playing in the U.S. and Canada.
Ok, this is for anyone Canadian, been to Canada etc so chewie, georgie or anyone else's response will be much appreciated. Recently been to this site called notcanada.com. Basically it claims to be a site revealing the truth about the great immigration scam that Canada has set up to bring in immigrants and their money to help keep the growing older population supported while bringing in youngblood to work menial jobs with no hope for breaking into a better job market regardless of qualifications. The site also claims that people both canadian and newcomer are leaving the country en masse for the lack of jobs, expensive living conditions, racism and so on.
Part of me wants to believe that the site was created by anti-immigrants looking to scare of foreigners with plans to go to canada. It does come of as pretty one sided and doesn't show immig success stories. I mean, I always had the impression that Canadians are for the most part liberal people, not as racist towards internationals and are more open to amwf pairings than in the states; or is it just Vancouver that feels this way?
I ask cuz I've been giving some serious thaught lately to moving up there and really don't wanna end up with another dissapointment like what happened in the states. So gimme an honest, no BS personal view on the issue, the truth in your own words. Cuz if you guys tell me it's all a bunch of bull I'm gonna seriously get the ball rolling and head up way north real soon.

Not so sure about Canada but I'm sorry to hear you had a disappointing experience in the states. Do you mind elaborating? I am not trying to be nosey, it's just that I am curious.
welll if u look at the site, it claims to be made by disgruntled immigrants. They arent lying i dont think, but its definitely one sided and only comes from the perspective of people who didnt have a good experience and also seems to me doesnt take into account how they wouldve been treated if they immigrated elsewhere. Only thing I would agree with is maybe its easier to get a job in the U.S. and make more money. But then you get a whole different set of problems. You have to look at both sides to get the best picture. No place is perfect.
Nordic-kulta, Pidän sinusta oikein paljon. Kiinalaisten ja suomalaisten lapsista tulee kauniita!

Diesel, I don't think my whole 5 1/2 years there was an entire dissapointment. Truth be told I loved it there and worked hard to build a future in the states. The thing is, the post 9/11 US really fucked it up for people in my position on a daily basis. I watched the war slowly but gradually bring out the worst in people around me. All of a sudden every bigot anti-immigrant had an excuse to aggresively and openly view me as a bad thing in the country. Laws got stricter in regards to everything I could or couldn't do. You get bombarded on a daily basis by the O'reillys and Lou Dobbs telling people I'm a potential threat just by existing there and after a while it just gets to you so bad you wanna explode.
The nail in the coffin came in bumfuck montana where that incident took place. The wounds are still too raw for me too explain the whole thing right now, but lets just say the whole political climate, a scumbag rat snitch and local small town dumbass pigs in uniform looking to keep their shithole town clean and white, pretty much fucked up my shot at an American dream. I commited no crime, a crime was commited on me but they laid it all on my feet. I'm disgusted for putting myself in such a vulnerable position for them to do what they did and the ease in which they did so sickens me till this day. You know those movies set in hickville where the cops bust outsiders just because? That's exactly what happened.
In a way, I think I see Canada as a second shot at what might have been. So I'm really hoping for confirmation that Canada does not suck. Sad I know but there you go.

Exactly, they paint a kinda inevitable doomsday scenario of Canada which I doubt is that accurate. I'm not looking for perfection, just miss the whole North American culture which I loved and suits me as a person. Plus I miss the white women
Canada is really U.S. lite in that respect. It wont suck (in the way you experienced in the U.S.) but you probably have a harder time making big bucks too. Most of the people on that site seems to have problems cause they didnt have North American job experience or qualifications. If you've been in the U.S. and worked there and/or got educated here then there shouldnt be a problem for you to get a job in Canada. The problem maybe whatever happened with what sounds like a run in with the law? Dont know how that would effect things...
Great to know it won't suck. I didn't technically graduate in the US so I'm not expecting a bed of roses. Willing to work my ass off at the bottom then take it from there. Just don't wanna jump into another pile of dung uninformed you know.
Sausage...wow that sucks. There is ignorance everywhere but yeah in small hick towns, they tend to want to stick to their "own kind" and not open to diversity. I would suggest going to a bigger city in Canada, like Montreal or Toronto, for better luck.
