Since my move is so last min, I just found a furnished temp place in the city. I was too afraid to find an apt online and not see it IRL and the area and amenities and be stuck there for 12 months. Once that is over I highly doubt I'll stay in the city though.

What neighborhood in the City? The individual neighborhoods have their own flair, and yes, it will take time for you to figure out which one(s) appeal to you more.
