I had opportunity to visit south africa before. I did not see this side of the society when I was there. What I did saw when I was there was many many poor black africans laborers on the side of dirt streets pandering for food, work, and whatnot. The only blacks I saw within the electric-fence protected gated communities were servants for the whites and other non-black upper class who found entrepreneur opportunity in that continent. I will have to agree with most of what the guy (african politician) said, and I did not like the white journalist lady very much. she seemed out of line when comparing within context of the continents history.

I've been to South Africa a couple of times and I'd say that whites generally are in positions of authority in business/general society (esp. in the SW part of SA).

I think that the artificial division of people among lines of color and wealth do not do justice to Africa's history and actuality.

Nobody seems to have considered that white communities who were NOT in positions of power or dominance have been systematically murdered and gangraped (then killed) out of existence.

Well, ever since the Brits took over, the Afrikaners were no longer the people in power, but they did continue to have their strongholds in parts of SA.

Can you assume that White South African women don't date ethnic guys? Or does it only apply to Black guys? I don't know about any of you, but South Africa is a funny one when it comes to IR dating. Knowing the history of apartheid you would think that they're racist to the core (and probably are) but in a strange way maybe the dating situation is kind of subverted in that WF's would choose, if they were to date interracially, Asian guys over Black guys unlike say, Germany, UK and Scandinavia where the odds favour BM (and just about any other race of men) over AM?

I don't feel sorry for them either. They relied on being white for their money in the past, take that away and look where they are now.

I don't feel sorry for them at all. They rode the gravy train for long time and enjoy its benefits under apartheid regime. It is pay back time now
