I was looking for your kind of answer.
hey sumo, do your friends come from work place?
Yup. There have been about 20 or so Brits that have come over here from our UK office for medium-length visits (3 to 6 months on average). Some have chosen to stay permanently.
They're from all over, but mostly from Manchester and Bath so they all have wildly different accents and slang. It's cool to hear the drastic differences in the way they speak knowing they're only scattered around a country roughly the size of Oregon.
most modern day Brits don't speak like Prince Charles there's all sorts of lower class Brit accents that are hard on the ears and difficult to understand.
And nobody speaks like the BBC. The first thing that I heard in this country was Pakistani Mancunian.
I am used to the "lower class accents" after spending 4 years in one of the ghettos of Manchester (or, Gunchester, as some here call it).
