I've noticed Brits aren't keen on lawsuits as Americans. Why's this so?

Brits don't live in a wild west culture like Americans. The US culture favors capitalism at its finest including profiting from misery of others at any cost.

I think it's probably more to do with the legal system in the UK making it more difficult to file a lawsuit. Or people thinking, rightly or not, that it will be a waste of time. Often people don't know they can sue.

Recently though, I've started to see a lot of "compensation" schemes coming forward around me, including to myself. If a legal firm hadn't contacted me, I wouldn't have known I could claim some money back from unlawful bank charges.

A friend of mine just got awarded 100,000 GBP following her lawyer's advice. She had no idea she could claim and was in a very difficult situation, like desperate. And then it happened! like a Xmas miracle!

Surely you should be asking why Americans are "lawsuit-happy", not why Brits are not.

1.. Probably because we have all got better things to do with our time.
2.. We find 'other ways' to sort our own shit out!
3.. Solicitors are much like MPs (Members of Parliament), meaning that theyre all full of good words and advice, but crap at dealing with it all.
4.. Everything here takes too long!
5.. Making stupid claims for stupid reasons is just STUPID!
6.. Most cases would be thrown out of court and most people that have made such claims would get done just for wasting the courts time.
7.. We tend to take knocks and move on, rather go crying that someone spilt our milk and we want payback, but are too sissy to do it ourselves.
8.. Stiff upper lip still lives on. (which is a sad thing in some cases)

I could go on and on and on .. but wont! Which i think will please everyone.

Oh btw.. My Sister is a Court Officer, and bloody hell ive heard a few nightmare stories from her.. Where folk really have been done, either fined or put away for a short stint just for wasting court time, when the matter could of been dealt with in other ways... Ouch!!!!!!!! Some Judges in the UK just dont have a sense of humour huh??? Buggas the lot of them!!
