Just curious what London is like to live in. I'm thinking about moving over there for a few years and wanted to get the local's thoughts. I have a EU passport so I'm hopeful of finding work there, but I'm more curious about the quality of life and the single scene.
I used to live in London, and thought it was a great place for foreigners for many reasons. I’ll probably end up there before spring time. I made friends quite easily with English, French, Irish folks through friends and work, but you can always join evening classes (great place to make interesting encounters. I find it much more interesting than night clubs).
Banale but once again true: at the end of the day, London will depend entirely on how you approach it.
The one thing I found appalling wass the public transport, and the size (some say largest European city) of London makes it worse.
I forgot about the public transport: The Tube has to be the most expensive transport system out there.
I lost my car for a few days and it cost GBP 4.80 (USD 9) a day for tube journey of two stops (about 3 miles).
I've lived in the North of England too and I find London quite unfriendly. Once you get used to it, you don't notice it!
I live in London and agree with what the ppl above have to say. It can get pretty lonely sometimes but there are plenty of people out there to meet if you just force yourself. I've lived here for about 2 years now and enjoying it.
I haven't found it hard to find a date but finding the right one has been hard. I know other guy friends that have been single for ages in London. I think it's way easier for a female in London. Seems like a lot more single guys here... definitely at bars and clubs!
London's tough!!! I only lasted three and a half years, got burnt out and went to Spain and then Asia, i aint beeen back five years. August will be my bruv's wedding so i gotta go back then, im shiting myself though. its fking expensive!! Luckily most of my family come from London, so hopefully i can crash on their sofa for a night or two.
And forgot, expect bad living conditions too..!!! urrrgghhh 7 or 8 of yaz sharing a filthy dirty house, your room smells of damp and the carpet is moving.. urrgghh a place i stayed for about 6 weeks, then got the hell out.
We're always looking for hot men who can hold a conversation and whose first priorities aren't always either working or going to the gym (especially when all that hard doesn't usally make much of an improvement...)

Georgie..tell me honestly...do u hate gym junkies? I dont remember who but someone else in some other post referred to some gym as probably having low self esteem and being insecure because he had big biceps. Now this! I know obessesiveness is a problem...but what about the goal of self improvement? Ive recently seen a hs friend of mine that was fat in hs..now hes built. He can hold a conversation with me, no problem as well. ALot of gym people arent ego inflated adonises or fabios...theyre just guys that want to better themsleves.
