I watch canadian news about hooliganism in the UK. All of these hooligans are adolescent teens who destroy people properties, attack people for no reason. The UK adopted anti-hooligan law that allow police to charge the teens under new law. The kids can incarcerated like adults.
The city of Manchester has over 1000 kids charged under new law. London also has larger number of deliquents adolescents causing trouble.I am curious why these kids are causing so much problems.

What you said must be true but i can tell you that it's not like in the 80's. All the top boyz have been stopped from going to stadium because of banning orders from the police. There is also a huge central file of "potential casuals" that is owned by every security departments of big towns. Considering that their faces are well-known, they can't take risks anymore. I figure that for the main part, the golden generation has retired now, they have children and a job to protect so they ain't gonna 4uck-up what they have now for a soccer match.

A new generation has taken over but like I said it's less "hectic" than before. Still, u will always have legendary sizzling derbies such Millwank-WHU, Chelsea/WHU, Arse anal/Tottenshalom, Liverpool/Man U, Man U/City or Liv'/Everton. All those are classics & u will always have lads who wants to fight.

Y are they causing trouble ? They just wanna stand their ground. That's all.
BTW, I admit I don't have a clue about the 1,000 teens who are charged by the police but it seems like a big number. It's possible it has to do w/ soccer but let's not mix up chav deliquency and hooliganism because it's 2 different things.

Why?

Theres a number of reasons for the uprise of this group of people and mainly its used to refer to kids. Poverty, the education system, poor parenting, peer pressure and boredom are some of the underlying reasons for this. I'm no sociologist so these reasons are just some I just thought up of.

How serious?

Well, depends where in the UK you are going to visit. In my opinion its more of a problem for people who live in certain areas of the UK who have to deal with this problem day in and day out rather than for some who's visiting. If you see a bunch of rowdy kids just ignore them, keep walking and do nothing that could provoke them. Just use your common sense, stay out of urban/poor areas at night, and you should be fine. As georgie says it's not a such major problem therefore dont worry so much.

My brother lives in a small village in Gloucestershire and he says he never bothers going into one of the larger towns on a weekend night because it just ain't worth the trouble what with all the lager louts everywhere drinking themselves stupid and throwing chairs.

ASBO's are a joke too, some teens don't even pay attention to it. They always get "cautioned" by the police but then nothing else serious happens.

Different boroughs of London deal with hooligans in different ways, they said that the borough of Lambeth has a rising increase in Anti-Social behaivour so you will find more vandals there, then again the borough of Lewisham has more racist behaivour especially in parts of Eltham and Grove Park.

But then again the numbers are nothing in comparison to Machester and Birmingham which has a high level of gun crime.

And Manchester has 1000 kids under an ASBO....it should be far more than that.

There was a case where a Chinese man and his wife were savagely and mercylessly beaten to death by a group of Welsh (or was it London?) teens some time ago. Not sure what they got for it though, but probably not that big of a deal, unfortunately.
Its getting more dangerous for Asians unfortunately.

This is a growing problem in Spain too. So Asians be careful and safe when visiting there as well.
