"Krutts" LOL
Look, it's perfectly harmless: a 'pom' is simply an Australian-wannabe but can't afford the airfare and is stuck at home watching 'Home and Away' when they'd rather be queueing to board the plane at Heathrow.
'Pom' is not a racial slur, BTW, (but the epithets listed above are).
'Pom' is merely an affectionate nickname for an English person and it's supposed get up your nose a little bit. It's supposed to be annoying. Australians are
supposed to annoy the English -- it has to do with the prison ships, the chains, the Potato Famine and Gallipoli.
As for myself, I hold an
Official Licence To Annoy English People -- it's also referred to as my Certificate of Australian Citizenship. LOL
The general attitude over in Oz is that Australians are entitled to call Poms 'Poms' because our soldiers TWICE saved the British Empire from complete annihiliation at the hands of the "Krutts" (in 1914-1918 and again in 1939-1945). Oh, and the Yanks helped too. :WI-INK:
PS: we don't say 'Yank' -- we say 'Sepo'.
PPS: and, yes, you MAY call me "chinky". I would find that rather amusing.
