However, when things are said on TV which like it or not reaches and forms public opinion in a lot of cases says something negative we are just like lambs. I am guilty about too, granted, and I was just trying to understand why.
The question here is what is the nature of your beef with the C4 documentary (I love C4 and BBC, btw): is the real problem (i) that the doco challenged your preconceptions and pre-existing view of the world; or (ii) that it states truths that you did not wish to know about and would rather have ignored; or (iii) that it presents you (via your ethnicity) in an unflattering light to the rest of the world.
Saying that the British have no call to point the finger at others is a rubbish argument, btw, because there is plenty of criticism within British society of their imperialist past. That in itself gives them the right to critically explore colonialism by others, as long as it is presented in a fair and balanced manner.
Another thing, you really fucked yourself in the ass when you (very unwisely) chose to take me on. And look what happened: your credibility on this forum is torn to shreds and you have been exposed as the Emperor Without Clothes.
I was perfectly happy to allow you to continue being the Armchair Internet Playa cum Keyboard Jockey and let you spout off pretending to be the Wannabe-PUA. But you went and spoiled it for yourself by overreaching. Guess what? Your double-blind play came back and bit you on the ass.
Hi Xenzu, what I am concerned about, is that a focused stream of fair comment can be made into unfair propaganda against a particular people, country or culture.
And when it no longer serves the purposes of The Powers That Be, fair comment on an issue simply disappears.
I think that it's a big red flag when all of a sudden there are a hundred articles and programs on China's abuses, when news of other matters such as over-fishing, Darfur, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan are muted.

It none of the above and I guess I've failed to communicate what I wanted to say. Anyway, you say that the Brits talk about their colonial past and the wrongs they've done. However, they don't exactly jump up to talk about the awful things they are currently doing e.g. selling weapons to countries who can't really afford them and who frankly use them on their own population or their neighbours. Also I know for a fact that they won't hesitate to trash other people's environment for the sake of profits. But all that's besides the point..
