Night Out in Sac Town

I've been so very busy with work doing full time hours to get all my training out of the way as quickly as possible. Well I'm finished with that and with my regular part time hours in affect, I have a lot of free time! And I'm anxious to make use of it. So echolake and I decided to go clubbing!!

The night started off simple enough. I took my sweet ass time getting ready - I read for a full hour after I had talked to echo. I didn't get start getting ready until she said she was on her way to my place. By the time she got here though I had taken a shower and gotten dressed. While I did my make up, echo raided my closet and my jewelry - she ended up with a new shirt (the tag was still on) and borrowed a pair of my earrings for the night.

Then we sat and debated on where to go. I've never been to a 21+ club in Sacramento. I spent my partying years in Riverside, so this was going to be a first for me. We decided on Empire, even though it was pink lingerie night and the club was bound to be filled with lots of skanks, sluts, and whores. If anything, I would be amused by them. It was a good trade off. There was some confusion on whether or not it was 18+ or 21+ so the first thing to do when we got there was so double check. Echo goes to ask the bouncer and it turns out its 18+.

Fuck that shit. Neither of us want anything to do w/anyone under 21.

So we left and went to Park Ultra Lounge. As we were waiting in line, these two guys behind us get to arguing about war and death and atomic bombs and cancer (due to atomic bombs) and Hitler and the Holocaust and who knows what else. Echo and I are just kind of looking around with "wtf" faces. Then the guys got out of line and some how or another managed to end up in the front of the line. Our entertainment now gone, we started wondering how we could get the same treatment.

Then some other guys behind us decided to leave. As they were going, one of the guys gave a ticket to echo that would get her in for free. So we sit there a while more, pondering on how we can better use this to our advantage. Then a bouncer type person walks by and echo goes over to talk to him. I don't know what she said to him other than "that gorgeous girl over in the yellow", but all of the sudden we had another free ticket and were being moved to the front of the line.

Fuck yeah.

So we get in for free YES. And use the money that we would have paid to get in with to buy drinks. We head straight to the bar. It took us some time but we both got two vodka (Grey Goose) cranberry. We down the first cup, and sip on the second as we head outside to check out the crowd.

Immediately we're drawn to a group of Asian guys. We're thinking "JACKPOT!" I'm thinking of ways to get us over there. I considered telling them that I'm conducting a survey on AM who date black and white women, mostly for shits and giggles. There's space enough on one of the couch things some of the guys were sitting on for two more. Just as we're about to go over there, some couple comes over and takes the spot.

Damn.

Echo decides to ask the couple if they want spots with us so they can have a couch to themselves and be all lovey dovey that way. They agree. So we trade. After a little bit, we get to conversing with the Asian guys. Echo, looking to prove her awesomeness even more, moves across from where we were to sit between to Asian guys. I love this girl so very much!

So we're talking, getting to know these guys. One convo goes something like this:

"Hey Dani, this guy just asked me if we date Asian guys."

We both laugh. A lot. After a bit I say, "Ask me."

Echo "Do we date Asian guys"

"YES!"

This of course leads them to ask my 2 favorite questions: Why and When did you start liking Asian guys. My immediate response to the first, as usual, is why not? Then I tell them that I think Asian men are no different from men of over races and that most differences are cultural. And as for when, well, I blogged about that before. Not going to get into it again.

I could kind of tell that the guy who initially asked the question wasn't really feeling our answers. So I wasn't at all surprised when 5 out of the 6 Asian guys who had initially been sitting there moved to go chat it up with a group of Asian girls.

When I thought about it more today, I realized that this kind of attitude is why I'm getting more and more bored with AL and AM. I'm so bored with having to explain to these men that I find them attractive. Moreover, I'm tired of being looked at like I'm not right in the head because I do. Even after I explained when/why I liked Asian guys, one of them still said something about it being a fetish, which really annoyed me. This complex that so many Asian men seem to have about non-Asian women not finding them attractive is starting to get really old. At this point, I'm almost reluctant to get involved with them because of it. Which is really sad, I think. But whatever. I have more than enough issues in life than to take on dealing with theirs.

The guy I was sitting next to seemed to be the only understanding one. He admitted to having grown up around mostly Blacks and Whites and hadn't had many Asian friends until college. He even said that one of the reasons he enjoyed Ultra Lounge is because a lot of non-Asian women talked to him. Despite this, he'd never dated a non-Asian woman. I kind of knew right there that it wasn't going to go any where. I imagine that he would go along with what his friends were doing - showing interesting in and only dating Asian women, even though he might want to date non-Asian women.

We talked for a while more until both of us had to go to the restroom. After I came out, I didn't see him again for the rest of the night. So I searched for echo, who had left when the 5 other guys had left. I found her on the dance floor, cozied up to another Asian hottie. We spent the rest of our night there.

As we were leaving, echo kept getting hit on. I think even by a gay guy, but I'm not sure. We ended up spending about 30 minutes talking to these group of guys - 2 black guys, 1 Iranian, and two other guys of some other race. One of the Black guy's tried to get Kat's number, and then got all offended when she said she didn't date Black guys. He really got upset - part of it of course was the alcohol. I found it really amusing because he had admitted that he only dates White women. So shouldn't I, a Black woman, be offended that he wasn't interesting me cause I was Black? If I hadn't been talking to the other guy, I might have died of laughter from the irony of it all.

The other Black guy was very approachable, kind of soft spoken as well. Not wild and crazy like his cousin. He ended up asking me for my number, which I gave him. I liked that he was very respectful instead of fawning all over me and "spitting game" if you will. Not sure where that's gonna go, but there's no harm in getting to know him.

It was a great night. Echo, being the fine, sexy, confident woman that she is, not only got us in free, but got us around some very tasty looking Asian guys. Even if it didn't go any where with them, there was eye candy galore and both of us flirted it up with men of every race.

Sac night life isn't as bad as I thought it was, not that I had any real experience to go off of. While we're no LA or Bay Area, there were plenty of people taking advantage of the warm, summer night. We saw people riding around on their bikes, sitting in the rose garden behind the capital. The bars and clubs were popping. Downtown Sac is definitely the place to be on the weekends. I'm glad I finally got to experience.

I can't wait to do it again.
