A newcomer brought up being of mixed heritage as many had before and it kinda sparked me as these things often do.
You think you have race issues? I spent 14 years of my life living with my Spanish speaking grandfather who never bothered or wanted any of his spawnage to carry on the language or heritage. I tried to embrace my Mexican and other heritages but it always failed cause the elders simply wanted to "blend" with the American ways. FUCK IT ALL!!! Asian's better anyways

I can feel you there. My dad (Mexican) acts a lot like a [white] middle-class American, other than his love of Mariachi, and other Latin music. I always felt a bit cheated growing up because of that.
