Customer Disservice

Y'all know I'm cheap, right? I try my best not to pay full price for anything I buy. I use rebates, look for sales, live on eBay, and clip coupons.
We're in a recession!
One of my proudest moments was getting $30.00 worth of groceries for $2.06. (I'm hardcore, yo!)
I don't always buy Sunday papers since all I really want is the coupons. My neighbors, who are not using the coupons (and always complain about the prices of things they buy!) are happy to give me their coupons. I get the rest of my coupons from the websites of the products I buy. It's very convenient, since I am online most of the day.
So what is annoying me this afternoon? The number of stores who refuse to accept internet coupons. I can understand the reasoning to a point; there are folks who use fake ones in order to get over. I am not one of those people. I have one coupon to get a few dollars off of one item. Why are the cashiers giving me the stink eye? I hate to get racial (tm Carlos Mencia), but it is almost always the black cashiers who give me the most trouble. Don't hate me because I'm saving money, bitches.
Today's situation was a little different. I handed the cashier my item and the internet coupon for the item. The coupon scanned in with no problem. The cashier then looks at the coupon and tells me that I can't use it. Mind you, it was already scanned in. I looked at her like she was crazy. She then proceeds to re-scan my purchase! I calmly asked her to let the transaction go through, since the coupon did work when she scanned it. She rolled her eyes at me. I asked for the manager. The manager's attitude wasn't much better than the cashier's. I told him that I understood the policy of not using internet coupons (a recent new policy), but that if the machine accepted the coupon the sale has to go through! He sighed and allowed my transaction to be completed, coupon and all.
Yet another store to strike off of my shopping list...

Even if the machine accepted it, if it was against policy to take it, that's the rules. The cashier should have been keen enough to look at the coupon first, but she didn't. However, if you know the policy, why are you using Internet coupons at that store?

I'm sorry people who don't use coupons are just dumb. I can't tell you the number of times I've saved $40 or more on stuff I would have bought. How many hours of work does it take to earn $40? A hell of a lot longer than it does to clip and scan coupons.
There was once an impatient person in line behind me who sighed loudly when I handed over the coupons. I just said, if you'd like to give $30, I'll skip the coupons, that's what they are worth. She didn't say a word back.Posted 09-13-2008 at 04:36 PM by mimi

The use of coupons, rebates etc isnt cheap. Its smart...why pay more than you have to? About the drama with the cashier...first dont they know its a internet coupon before they scan it? Second, what was the real issue if the machine accepted it then you obviously can use it.
