It's Time to Do This Already

This weekend, I had to carry a dear friend out of a party because he was way too drunk to function. He took in 3 cups of jungle juice and 1.5 cups of 151 proof liquor in less than 20 minutes. Never a good thing to do, even if you are a heavyweight. The guy was completely wasted and that's when the shit hit the fan...
He began to ramble on about how much he hated his life, about how fat he was (although he weighs the normal amount), and about how stupid and ugly he was. He said he wanted to die because he couldn't stand being this way and on and on......
This was not the beginning......he's had body issues before.....I strongly suspect he is bulimic/anorexic because he will only eat the bare minimum. Before he said he fasted every other day, but we called him on it, and he's eating.....nothing but salad....
Its time to do something. I'm going to talk to counselers and try to stage an intervention. I know he has to accept the help, but quite frankly, I would rather him hate me for trying to save his life than to have the worst happen while I ignored the problem... The time is now. Help needs to happen...and so help me, I'll be the hurricane that makes it happen

You go! Anorexia is scary, my roomie in college almost died. And you are right, doesn't matter if he hates you for it, if you love him as a friend and you think he's starving himself to a dangerous point, save his life.Posted 11-03-2008 at 12:56 AM by GoldenGirl
